Program Description
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography curriculum combines on campus didactic and laboratory instruction with supervised clinical experiences at regional hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to assigned clinical sites. Placements could be located up to two hours away (one way).
Clinical education is delivered through multiple clinical rotations: 1) Observation Clinical introduces students to the clinical setting and professional expectations. 2) Clinical I consists of a 12-week, full-time (40 hrs/wk) unpaid clinical rotation completed over the summer between the first and second year of the program. 3) Clinicals II and III are completed during the second year and require 16 hrs/wk for 15 weeks each.
The program admits 20 students each year in the fall. One student placement is reserved for an on-campus curriculum change, with the remaining 19 placements being filled by Admissions.

Continuing Education Opportunities
The program allows graduates to transfer to a four-year program in imaging science or healthcare management.
Graduates may enter directly into either the healthcare management BTech, the interdisciplinary studies BTech, or technology management BBA degree program.
Grade of “C+” or better required for all SONO and BIOL prefix courses.
