Program Description

As more organizations install and employ computer networks, a need has developed for the “resident expert” to administer the system, install software, establish security, and train others. As a graduate of the computer information systems (CIS) program, you will be well positioned to serve that need with a foundation in programming, databases, and networking.

Program Advantages

Students can complete the Cisco Certified Network Association curriculum and have a strong foundation to pursue professional certifications for CompTIA A+, Network+, and CCNA. The college has a Pearson Vue testing center.

Our laboratories provide students with ample hands-on experience, giving them a considerable edge in the highly competitive computer and information technology job market.

Continuing Education Opportunities

Direct entry into baccalaureate degree programs. 

Alfred State computer information systems graduates may enter directly and seamlessly into any of our four BTech programs: 1) cyber security, 2) applications software development 3) network administration, or 4) web development. Students may also transfer to our Technology Management BBA degree program, or Interdisciplinary Studies BTech program.

To facilitate the easy transfer of these associate degree graduates choosing to continue their education at the baccalaureate level, students are encouraged to make their intentions known to their academic advisor during their freshman or sophomore year. Transfer into these baccalaureate programs will place students at the junior status.
