Sonography Clinical I
Course Description
This clinical course provides students with the opportunity to practice and refine their sonographic skills and scanning techniques in a real-world clinical setting under the guidance of registered sonographers. Students attend their assigned clinical site to focus on achieving procedural competence, fulfilling abdominal and small parts exam competency requirements, and practicing essential patient care tasks. Sonography of the female pelvis may be introduced. Throughout the clinical rotation, students receive regular evaluations from their clinical instructor and other clinical staff. Progress is tracked through evaluations, clinical competency exams, and feedback from clinical instructors. This clinical experience consists of 40 hours per week for 12 weeks, with a minimum of 448 hours over the duration of the course. Clinical schedules are arranged based on the availability of affiliated clinical sites. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their assigned clinical site and may be placed up to two hours away (one-way) from their site.
