This course provides an introduction to the foundational principles of diagnostic medical sonography. Students explore the history and diverse applications of sonography in healthcare. Emphasis is placed on medical and sonographic terminology, medical ethics and legal considerations, as well as the role of sonographers in healthcare. Students develop essential communication skills to effectively provide basic patient care and collaborate with healthcare professionals. Topics covered include sonographer safety and ergonomics, infection control, patient care practices such as vital signs and patient transfers, patient history, and medical emergencies.
