Course Description

This course introduces comprehensive nursing care of pregnant, laboring, postpartum and newborn clients as well as select acute and chronic medical conditions. This course emphasizes a client-centered approach to nursing care of clients throughout the lifespan. Client assessment, risk factors, expected findings, laboratory tests, diagnostic procedures, complications, medications, prevention, treatments, interprofessional care, and client education related to the disease processes are addressed. Concepts relate to safety, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics are integrated throughout the course.
