Course Description

This course examines the three segments of the criminal justice system in the U.S. - police, courts, and corrections. Included is study of the evolution, philosophy, structure, responsibilities, agencies, and ethical obligations in each segment. Also examined is the role of the U.S. Constitution and state and federal laws, the role of the criminal justice system in a democratic society and current issues facing those who work in this field. Students must achieve a C or better in this course to continue in other criminal justice courses.
